A few of my favorite things. I do not get compensated for any of these products, and I purchased them (and now promote them) of my own free will.
Hands-down, You Need A Budget (YNAB) is the way to go. Know where to find every single dollar (which account its in), and what each dollar’s purpose is. You will hear about YNAB a lot in this blog. Seriously, it’s the reason for my laser focus. Get YNAB here.
There’s so much good advice out there, but it starts with the basic principle of living within your means. For that, I am a big fan of Dave Ramsey. Really, there is no financial peace until you are debt-free and understand your priorities (Dave’s baby steps). Learn about Dave here.
We are trying really hard to align ourselves with a streamlined lifestyle, valuing experiences over things as a way to enrich our lives. I don’t think we will ever be “severe” minimalists, owning only a few dozen items, but it is something to strive for. We all tend to collect things and never use them as often as intended. Simplifying brings a certain amount of peace of mind. For inspiration, we love The Minimalists. Check out their blog, their books, and especially their documentary.
