Grow your own money tree

Think back to your childhood. Do you remember wanting something and asking your parents, and they gave you that look? And you knew it was coming…that ever-popular phrase that parents seemed to use daily. “What? Do you think money grows on trees?”

And while I KNEW that there was no such thing as a money tree, I did not have firm answers to just WHERE the money did come from, or even more importantly, what percentage of the family budget or bank balance would be consumed by my  fantasy purchase. Was there even a family budget? Every time I asked my father how much money he made, his usual reply was, “A dollar two ninety-eight.” What was that?

So, here it is.The writing project I’ve been thinking about for years. A chance to talk about how my husband and I have guided our family from such money illiteracy to being debt-free and growing our net worth to millionaire status. It’s not easy. It’s not always fun. But it does require some self-control and thought.
